`$XAUTH` vs `$XAUTHORITY`

On Arch, the `$XAUTH` environment variable doesn't exist, and `$XAUTHORITY` must be used instead. `$XAUTH` seemed to work on Ubuntu. Is there a way to make this cross compatible?
