dtable bycol order

Hi, I was trying to generate a descriptive table using dtable, but I noticed that the columns are always arranged alphabetically, with no option to reorder them. Is there a way to change the column order?

Thanks for reporting! Could you provide us with a reproducible example? For me, dtable seems to follow the order of the vars argument?

import pyfixest as pf 

data = pf.get_data()
pf.dtable(data, vars = ["X2", "X1"])

Oh sorry I should have made it clearer.When I need to produce a descriptive table like the one I attached, the "group" column is arranged alphabetically

Ok, I'll have to take a closer look at that one. I would tentatively say this is intended behavior, we simply haven't added an option to allow users to sort in their desired order. Also pinging @dsliwka as fyi.

I have just checked. You should be able to resolve this by using pandas categorial variables and specifying the order in which you want the groups to appear before calling dtable. Here is an example:

data["country"] = pd.Categorical(data["country"], categories=["US", "EU"], ordered=True)
