Question about new hatch test command and environment

I just tested the new hatch test command with Hatch v1.10.0. This is awesome. I really like the default dependencies in the test environment.

Given this snippet from a pyproject.toml.

[project.optional-dependencies]
test = [
  "pytest~=8.0",
  "pytest-cov~=5.0",
  "pytest-mock~=3.12",
  "pytest-randomly~=3.15",
]
# ....
[tool.hatch.envs.test]
features = ["test"]
# ...

My short question is simply this:

If you switch from a manually configured test env, with optional dependencies and features to the new test env, there is no way to do pip install myproject[test]. Is that right?

Can I somehow achieve this without duplicating the test env's dependencies as my optional project dependencies?

You can use all of the usual options, like features, in the hatch-test environment: https://hatch.pypa.io/latest/config/internal/testing/#customize-environment

Sorry, I think my description was a bit misleading.

I meant that, if I use Hatch >= 1.10.0, I get the hatch-test env "for free". If I delete my previous config from the toml file, can I still somehow do a pip install myproject[test]? I don't think so.

Is this clearer?

Can you show me the exact configuration now so that I can show you the translation? It should be exactly the same FYI.
