Cannot start container / cannot get it working

Hello,
I am trying to setup this container with docker-compose.

I set up my directory /home/user/ddns
as well as the data folder /home/user/ddns/data

The docker-compose.yml file looks like this:

My config looks like this:

Can someone tell me what am I doing wrong?

If I run docker-compose up -d in the directory it starts the container but with docker ps I see that the container restarts every 5 seconds or so.

The log says:

You need to remove CONFIG=/home/timo/ddns/data/config.json. This is to have your entire JSON file content on a single line. I'll remove it from the default docker-compose.yml as it is indeed confusing.

You can also use docker-compose up to run the container interactively and stop it with CTRL+C

No just remove it or leave it blank haha

If I delete the line "CONFIG=" I still get the error:

ddns-updater | 2021-01-12T12:53:26.623Z ERROR unexpected end of JSON input

If I leave the line and do not enter anything, I get the same error as well. I dont know what I am doing wrong :D

Maybe you have windows line endings 🤔 Let me know if that's the case I'll add some sanitization code as well. Other than that I'm not sure the JSON you posted looks fine to me.

Otherwise you can try putting your config in the CONFIG environment variable but it has to hold on a single line (so remove all new lines).

I now created the docker-compose.yml within nano without pasting anything.
Either with nor without the config line it still says ddns-updater | 2021-01-12T16:18:16.151Z ERROR unexpected end of JSON input

I am loosing my mind :D
May can you show me how the single line config for strato.de looks like?

I updated all subdomains, but how can I update the main domain?

1. You just have to create the A/AAAA record once, although it might be created for you by default I'm not sure.
2. Cool so the program should update fine, it seems to work for Failure unknown response Strato #140 as well. Maybe recheck your password? Does your password contain double quotes "?
3. Apparently it seems to work better now on Failure unknown response Strato #140 could you try on your side?

So I just tried. For a new subdomain I need to manually set the IP address. If I start the container it shows me bad authentication.
After 5 minutes & a new container it shows me the correct IP & Up to date. Otherwise it shows failure bad authentication.

I as well changed the password to a different one and it still shows bad authentication.

I just made another test.
I now used a different domain. I then set the A Record to 127.0.0.1 and after that I marked the Domain to use DynDNS.
Then I entered everything to the config. When running the container it gets the bad authentication error where I am 100% I use the correct password. When updating the IP with the URL it works instantly.

I do not know what is wrong.

I did now another test which was successful.
The past days I alsways had the config in one line. I just made the change to use a json config file in the data directory.
Now I used a new domain again (3rd domain) and set 127.0.0.1 in the Strato UI as an A record. Then picked dyndns. Entered everysthing to the config file and it worked. I think it works now!

Ok let me know if anything's strange. I would tend to think your password wouldn't get parsed correctly from the environment variable (because of the yml syntax conflicting). Did it contain only alpha numeric characters? 🤔

I dont know what it caused, but gladly it works now. It has this pattern: Abcdefghi1234567

I only have one more thing.
It is not a problem but the favicon will not be displayed.
Chrome console says: Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 400 (Bad Request) /favicon.ico:1

The log of the container only says:

Do you know what can cause this?
