Porkbun subdomain via host parameter

When using ddns-updater to update a Porkbun subdomain, I'm encountering an issue with the host parameter. If I supply the host as the subdomain, no activity occurs. However, if I type the subdomain with a space at the end of the host, everything works well. Perhaps I have something misconfigured? Config file below with domain and keys removed, not including the trailing space. Any help is appreciated!

No activity occurs because it's already up to date? Check with LOG_LEVEL=debug?
If you set the host to vpn it fails to resolve it (it's not valid/doesn't exist) and obviously porkbun fails to create it.

I thought that no activity occurs because it is already up to date, so I did the following:

1. Set up the ddns-updater software config.
2. Made sure the record did not exist for my subdomain.
3. Executed the software.

The error was as shown above, but the record was created.

I then went into my Porkbun account and changed the subdomain record IP to 1.2.3.4.

The software did not correct the IP in over an hour of testing, with a period of 10m defined. My understanding is that the software should see that the IP where it is executed is different than the record with Porkbun and update it accordingly.
