Hello all,

I am attempting to run a kagome validator on Kusama. Here are a few of the minor things I've run into running docker image v0.9.5:

1. author_hasSessionKeys isn't working for me. I filed a complete issue on this 2260
2. The parity implementation gracefully handles telemetry URLs that are missing the final forwardslash but Kagome does not. Make sure to have the closing forward slash on your telemetry URLs.
3. Speaking of telemetry, my kagome nodes aren't reporting version number or any of the extended system info to telemetry. I see qdvrm's node does report more info to telemetry. Perhaps that node is running a dev build.

I've been running a Kusama kagome validator supported by the DN program for some weeks now. I'm running on hardware that passes the parity client's benchmarking. Performance has been poor, averaging about 100 points an era. I have two questions:

Are there any suggestions on improving performance?
Is there anything I could be doing to collect data useful to the kagome team?

Yes.
If you are running it for weeks, I assume you are lacking few networking improvements, that indeed led to decrease in era points:

1. In libp2p dial order #2319 we improved best connection detection and increased the max_peers parameter to 1000 (it can be adjusted using max-peers flag)
2. Removed unnecessary dials in fix notifications getConnections #2316

I would recommend to rebuild KAGOME with the latest master and check if era points got better. Our node is getting much more than 100 per era. Please note, that since 0.9.5 release there were some breaking changes introduced, so you should either pass --enable-db-migration flag during the first run, or just resync the node (e.g. using warp sync).

Update: I built kagome from master on Jan 14 and indeed am experiencing drastically improved performance averaging more like 10k points/era. Thank you.
