Windows don't automatically tile when opened

I just installed your plugin after updating my kubuntu install to 24.04 LTS. I am able to access the menu of tile types with ctrl+alt+D, and when I select something from the options it tiles windows following that layout, but new windows that I open after doing this and closing the popup aren't tiled, and I can't snap a window into a tile by dragging it roughly to the area I expect the tile to be. Is this expected behavior? If so, is there a way to reconfigure things so that windows can be snapped to tiles, or that they do so upon opening?
