Idea: Auto-transpose circuit coming out of _pretty_repr_

How much information do we get in pretty_repr? Do we get the display width in characters? We could automatically switch to transposed circuits when things didn't fit.

So it does look like you can get the display width.

Do we think this would be strange to change behavior if it is too wide?

While this idea has merit, it seems it has not been a priority for 6+ years. We have a substantial number of other priorities on the roadmap that need to take precedence. With regrets, I'm going to close this. If we ever need to revisit it, we can reopen it then.
