Hello,
Yesterday, we held a public community call to recap the intense discussions from last week's Face-to-Face in Prague.
Recap:
The focus is officially shifting toward Quarkus 4. Technically, this means moving to Jackson 3, implementing a Unified Event model (merging CDI and Vert.x paradigms), and refactoring our internal start/stop architecture. We are also doubling down on Modernized Packaging (JPMS/Jlink) as a potential new default.
Beyond the code, we are pivoting our messaging. While performance remains core, we are now focusing on "Developer Joy" and "Efficiency", specifically how Quarkus helps reduce cloud costs. We also introduced "AI Joy" (AIX): a concerted effort to ensure Quarkus is the best framework for AI agents to work with, including specialized "skills" and AI-driven migration paths from Spring Boot.
Finally, we discussed transitioning to Java 21 (or potentially Java 25) as the baseline for Quarkus 4, to prune legacy code and embrace the latest JVM features.
