Electron-Preload useage

I recently started a new project in the quasar 2.0 and noticed that a lot of stuff has been changed. Most notable, I previously had a utils.js file that contained methods for parsing an reading files from the users workstation on disk. However it now appears we can no longer import electron modules to use fs in random js files for security reasons. Seemingly everything has to go through this electron-preload.js file now.... which is annoying in the sense i have to move everything to one huge file. Please tell me if I'm using this new framework incorrectly and how to better setup this situation. Thank you

Anywho, how can i have my method below, call another method within this new framework. I currently keep getting errors saying that parseItem is not a function...
