[Feature request] Best times for given distances

Hi!

I'm trying to move away from Strava, which I use for running and hiking, and I just stumbled upon CubeTrek. I really like what you've done, but there's one feature missing for me: best times for given distances. My main running goal is improving my 5K and 10K times, so I'd like to see a graph, or at least a top X, of my times for these distances.

Would that be in scope for CubeTrek, since it looks like it's mainly for hiking? Sorry if this feature has already been requested. I tried searching here and on Reddit but couldn't find anything.

If it is in scope, I might try to implement it myself. I have professional experience with Spring Boot and PostgreSQL, but none at all with geo data or PostGIS, so it would be interesting to explore this field.

I think it would be a perfect fit for CubeTrek!

The engineering question would be how to efficiently extract the fastest 10km/20km/etc. from database for each user. This would need some know-how in efficient DB queries in Postgres and Postgis.

If you can help, I'm more than interested to incorporate such a feature.

I did not look into how the data was stored, but I think the easiest would be to do that when the activity is uploaded? Iterate on the whole run and store the current best as you go, and when you have best segment of the activity you can store that and/or compare to the ones already in the database? Just throwing ideas.

Anyway if I find time to look into that it won't be until later in the summer, so if anyone want to give it a go feel free to do so 😄

Edit: well "later in the summer" I'm going to buy, renovate and move into a flat, so I definitely won't have time for that. I'm going to leave the issue open in case anyone want to work on it, but don't hesitate to close it if you don't like stale issues.
