Sorry, I don't have a very good reprex for this but your own README provides a good examples:

We would expect to see

foo <- mean(1:10)

but the <- disappeared.

I can't reproduce locally so it might be a strange interaction with pkgdown but that might be red herring 🤷‍♂️ ...
