Ignore cache if discarded for a long time?

Is there a way to set a time limit on how long a cached page should persist? I have a few pages that I check every couple days or even weekly, and 'reactivating' that tab always loads a cached version, which I then have to manually refresh. I'd like to be able to set the cached version to expire after a certain amount of time.

pages set their own cache expiration date, which the browser is supposed to heed. either the page(s) in question set inappropriate timeouts, or the browser ignores them when reactivating the pages.
