So most bells here work like this: you have two tones. One for hours one fore quarter hours.
In between hours only the quarter bells make sound.
e.G:
- 3PM = low bell 3 times
- 3:30Pm = high bell 2 times
- 3:45PM = high bell 3 times
- 4:00PM = low bell 4 times
- ...
Low bell long vibration and high bell short vibration maybe?
