Amazing app! Just needs better RAM optimization

hank you for creating such a great app! Copycat is smooth, functional, and a real productivity booster. I really enjoy using it.

I’m currently using Copycat from the Mac App Store on a MacBook Air M4, and while the experience is generally excellent, I’ve noticed the app tends to consume 250–350 MB of RAM.

That’s a bit high compared to similar utilities, many of which stay well under 100 MB. It would be amazing if you could optimize memory usage to make Copycat even lighter on resources.

This small improvement could make a big difference for many users, especially those who care about performance and efficiency.

You're right that Copycat's memory usage can hover around 250–350 MB on macOS. Just to share a bit of insight: this is actually quite typical for macOS apps, and a lot of that memory isn’t actively used. For example:

Virtual Memory can show very high numbers (even hundreds of GB), but it’s just address space reservation — not actual RAM use.

Real Memory includes shared system libraries and frameworks that macOS loads efficiently across apps.

The Private Memory, which reflects what Copycat really owns, tends to be around ~80 MB.

macOS also dynamically reduces memory use when the system is under pressure — for example, when using Xcode or other memory-heavy apps, you’ll likely see Copycat's usage automatically shrink. This is thanks to how macOS handles caching and memory compression.

That said, memory optimization is always on our radar, and we’re exploring further ways to trim background usage where possible. Appreciate you taking the time to share this — feedback like yours really helps guide improvements!
