Perhaps you're looking for Disable grouping on the taskbar, it can be configures such that pinned items remain in place. |

Grouping disabled means that if I open multiple instances of chrome, I have multiple open app tabs in the taskbar. Grouping enable means there would be only one app tab that when clicked would show the multiple instances. Locking the taskbar means the shortcut icons to the far left of the taskbar remain in place and are unmoved upon clicking them, opening the app tab to the right of the shortcut section of the taskbare without rearranging the taskbar shortcut icons. |

It worked!! Thank you!!!
Do you think mentioning 'and taskbar lock like windows 10' would be good in
the description? This is really a key feature that got dropped in Win 11.

You're probably right. I'm not as well versed in matters of windows
formatting as you (or a lot of people!)
Thank you!!!!

I don't think "taskbar lock" is a term that most people will understand.
When I read it, I think about something that prevents items from being
reordered.

Win 7 and 10 had the option to "lock taskbar" so that the icons for shortcuts on the left of the taskbar stayed in position when you clicked on them, and a tab on the taskbar would open to the right for the active app. The icons would maintain their position and order. This was lost in Windows 11. Any ideas how to get it back?
