Bluetooth Device Tray icon W Battery Indicator (Bluetooth Mouse as example)

Ain't much too explain, I want this to be it's own tray icon, Or any device for that matter.

This would remove the need to click the Volume tray icon > Manage Bluetooth Devices( > Button) just to tell how low on battery a device is.

Ideas on structuring configuration:

• Device

• Primary icon

• Fallback icon

This would be either:
A The battery indicator or
B The relevant icon associated with the device(mouse icon in this case)

Fade to Fallback on hover(Battery indicator as default) - Overlap to be expected whist fading from one to the other(probably the most problematic part)

-Fade duration
(See @m417z's taskbar-tray-show-on-hover mod for back-end inspiration)

• Click action
  Default Click action should go to Bluetooth & Devices > Devices Settings page

• Optional context menu (idk, maybe reuse @Salyts's Tray Items Settings from the ultimate-custom-tray - Speaking of Style Settings aka Icons & Context menu color could also be reused as well)

For the Device that's all up to interpretation, I'm thinking though a simple "Name of Device" string input that must match the device shown ie "BM20X-5.0"

honestly gonna have to ask my AI and get back to you with this one, im at the point where i customized him enough, and created enough custom tools to only ask for a mod and them run a sequence of validations, not to mention a whole Neural Network i designed over the span of a few months 😅

Both are regular TrackPopupMenu items on the tray icon's WM_RBUTTONUP:

"Open Windhawk" — the mod has // @include windhawk.exe, so it runs inside Windhawk's process. GetModuleFileNameW(nullptr, ...) returns the path to windhawk.exe. Click → ShellExecuteExW with that path → opens the Windhawk main window.

"Mod Settings..." — a custom Win32 dialog (dashboard-style GUI, replaces the old YAML config panel). Click → calls the mod's own LaunchDashboard() which spins up a settings window. Config is persisted with Wh_SetStringValue / Wh_GetStringValue. Nothing fancy — just a standard CreateWindow dialog with the mod's settings UI.

The menu itself is built with CreatePopupMenu + AppendMenuW/InsertMenuItemW, shown with TrackPopupMenu, and the selected cmd is dispatched in a switch statement.

small update about the mod, hopefully tomorrow an early version will be released.

Swweeet, looking forward to it! And much appreciated the explanation. I'll probably have to figure something else out lol i just wanted a custom Action in my mod to bring up the mod setting page(in the Windhawk UI) but that sounds good too if i can't figure that out i'll for sure have to look into your implementation.
In regards to the custom icons though I like that idea too but I was hoping more on like you'd set the device string and it'd just use the same icon, if it's not too much to ask that's what i was really hoping on.
Also, I gotta see this ai setup man lmao i am tired of paying for copilot since they switched the damn rates 😂

oh it already does automatically detects Mouse, Keyboard and controllers.
you can actually set custom icons for each one if you like, or stick to the defaults that you see in the screenshots :)

Copilot is so restricted I never liked it, good for some things but limiting on others.
