Kaspersky compatibility issues

"I have added Windhawk to Kaspersky's exclusion list, including the windhawk.exe file and its installation folder. However, it seems that if the Windhawk service and Kaspersky launch at the same time during startup, the Kaspersky UI freezes (windows like virus logs or exclusion settings become unresponsive). On the other hand, Windhawk itself works perfectly fine."

I have confirmed that Windhawk is not injecting or loading any modules into the Kaspersky process.
"Therefore, I suggest adding an option to toggle 'Auto-start on boot' or implement a 'Delayed start' feature. Currently, I’ve had to resolve the conflict by manually editing the registry to set the service to manual and disable Windhawk's auto-start."

Can you create and post a dump of the UI process when it's frozen?

• Open Task Manager.
• Go to the Details tab (with the list of processes).
• Find the hung process.
• Right-click on it and choose "Create memory dump file".

And another question: is it resolved if you exclude all processes (*)? If it does, can you try excluding parts of the system to find which process can be excluded to get the issue fixed?

"The service appears to reset itself to 'Automatic' every time the app starts. After using 'exclude all processes' and reboot PC, the UI is working fine now.

"Also, when the virus log window was malfunctioning previously, Kaspersky didn't actually 'Stop Responding.' I could still click the close button on the virus log UI, but the content wouldn't load and none of the options were clickable. Because of this, I wasn't sure at what exact moment I should have captured the memory dump."

"I just created a DMP for avpui.exe, but it shows up as a 0-byte empty file. It's likely because of the Self-Defense feature."

After using 'exclude all processes' and reboot PC, the UI is working fine now.

The best idea I have for now is to narrow down the relevant process. e.g. see if excluding everything but C:\Windows\* works, or everything but C:\Program Files\*. Out of the two, you can keep narrowing down, such as C:\Windows\a*, C:\Windows\b*, etc.

By the way, does it happen when all mods are disabled?

Staggering their startup seems to fix the clashing, so it's hard to pin down the exact issue. Setting too many exclusions would make things hard to use anyway. The truth is, I’m just too lazy to keep restarting and relogging just to figure it out.

I think for now I'll just manually disable the auto-startup. I don't restart my PC that often anyway.🥹

kaspersky,bitdefender and other antivirus don't like all kind of injection,especially inject into windows critical process unless well known injection such as microsoft detours library
