Describe the bug
After upgrading raspios to use raspi-firmware 20250305 the system no longer boots. it comes up to a rainbow screen and the SD access card light blinks in "unable to find kernel" pattern.

To reproduce
Upgrade to raspi-firmware package 1:1.20250305-1 - tested on a system that uses SD cards as rootfs.

Expected behaviour
the system loads a kernel and initrd

Actual behaviour
the system is not sure what an SD card is, fails to boot.

Thanks for the partition description. It looks like the change in behavior is due to fixes for GPT handling the firmware was seeing the Hybrid GPT area and looking for the partition within there.

I've attached an updated start4.elf + fixup4.dat (not cutdown) which should either work or at least provide more information. If you could retest with that it would be very helpful.

The firmware/bootloader was updated to support selecting different FAT partitions within GPT but in your case GPT should be ignored because the GPT area is not the first primary partition i.e. Hybrid GPT areas should always be ignored.

Same on RPi2 (900MHz model) - after changing nothing other than the fixup*, start* binaries to the 1.20250305 release, the system goes from booting correctly to a 7-flash sequence with a rainbow display.
