[BUG]: When I click the Open Raspberry Pi Connect button, nothing happens. [Ubuntu 25.10][deb package install] #1564

Description

What happened?

I just installed v2 on Ubuntu 25.10.

sudo apt remove rpi-imager # 1.8.5
wget https://downloads.raspberrypi.org/imager/imager_latest_amd64.deb
sudo apt install ./imager_latest_amd64.deb

When I click the Open Raspberry Pi Connect button, nothing happens.

Anyway, even without this bug I’d still file an issue. I always report software that opens the browser automatically. I use Firefox with Profiles and Containers set up, so automatic links open in a random profile and without a container—which I consider a privacy breach, especially when URLs contain identifiers (this one doesn't but anyway).

Solution

I don’t know the cause and I’m not eager to investigate. I’m not sure if it’s widespread or only on my machine.

What I do know is there’s no fallback. There should be visible text under the button, e.g. “or open https://connect.raspberrypi.com/imager/”. If we care about UX, add a small button (copy-paste emoji) that copies that URL to the clipboard.
