Building the GNOME applet

I'm trying to fix a packaging problem in a Linux distro that's preventing the GNOME 45+ applet from being available. I already figured out that ./configure should be invoked with --enable-gnome45 to select the right version of the GNOME applet. When I install the package, the GNOME extension triggers this error:

Error: Requiring Workrave, version 2.0: Typelib file for namespace 'Workrave', version '2.0' not found

When I download the v1.10.53 release and attempt a build, I see that frontend/common/src/Workrave-1.0.typelib is generated. I don't see a Workrave-2.0.typelib. While frontend/applets/gnome-shell-45/src/extension.js imports gi://Workrave?version=2.0, I only see a Workrave-1.0.gir file and none for 2.0.

Am I missing something here? I have limited experience with C++ build tooling.

The Workrave-2.0-typelib requires Gtk4, do you have the development packages for Gtk4 installed?
If these are installed, could you share the configure/make output?

Bingo! When the development files for Gtk4 are available in the build environment, the 2.0 files get generated. Thanks Rob!
