I've been looking at Plane as a self-hosted project
management tool. The Community Edition (AGPL v3) covers what I'd need: OIDC auth (works with
Pocket ID), no user limits, full project/issue tracking.
Not pulling the trigger yet. The main blocker is that Plane doesn't have a CLI tool I can use
for LLM-driven workflows. Their "Prime CLI" is just an ops tool for managing the Plane instance
itself, and the only third-party CLI (Cipher-IT/plane-cli) is barely maintained. MCP servers
exist but aren't an option due to token inefficiency.
I'll revisit this if/when a proper CLI materializes or someone builds one worth using.
Notes from research:
- Community Edition includes basic OIDC (no SAML), which is fine for Pocket ID
- Dark mode built in
- Has a "Pages" feature but doesn't replace Outline (scoped to projects, not a standalone wiki)
- Pro tier ($6/seat) adds SAML, dashboards, time tracking
