renaming namespaces

So I had a namespace like \CompanyName\Product\Whatever and I wanted to rename it to \NewCompanyName\Product\Whatever. How would I do that?

None of the results returned by either https://getrector.com/find-rule?query=rename or https://getrector.com/find-rule?query=namespace look super useful in that regard.

We had such a rule, but it would require moving classes themselves to new paths. That's a spot, that missed classes here and there and miss-renamed files, as dependend on composer.json PSR-4 etc.

PHPStorm handles this with 1 click. Use it or your IDE instead 👍

@TomasVotruba - For my purposes moving the classes wouldn't be necessary. This is for a package that's installable through Composer and I'm just changing the root namespace. Like in Carbon's composer.json you have this:

    "autoload": {
        "psr-4": {
            "Carbon\\": "src/Carbon/"
        }
    },

If you changed that from Carbon\ to MyFork\ so that you could run both concurrently no files would need to be moved.

What's the name of the old rule that did the namespace handling? I'm wondering if I could just repurpose that? I mean, an actively maintained rule would be preferable, but if that's not an option, then I'll make do!

Not sure about the rule name, it's many years ago.

If it's open-source, simple find & replace in PHPStorm would do.
