Is AS2 support planned?

First of all, congratulations on your projects! They look amazing and quite complete for having been on GitHub for such a short time.

I haven’t had the chance to try them yet, but as soon as I find some free time I’ll give them a go — both functionally and technically they look impressive.

I am writing to ask if you have plans to support AS2, even if only in the medium term. I’d also really appreciate it if you enabled GitHub Sponsors so I could make a small contribution.

AS2 is already in active development — built as a full, dedicated redb.Route.As2 connector (like every other transport: Kafka, RabbitMQ, IBM MQ, …), not a checkbox on top of HTTP. Scope is the real thing: AS2 client and server, S/MIME sign + encrypt + compression, per-partner X.509 certificates, and both synchronous and asynchronous MDN. A half-implemented AS2 that can't talk to a real partner isn't worth shipping.

We're testing it ourselves against real endpoints. If you get to try it later, I'd be glad to hear how it works out for you.

On sponsorship: I can't set up GitHub Sponsors from where I'm based, so it's not an option. No need anyway — a star and feedback are worth more.

Update: AS2 has shipped.

redb.Route.As2 is on NuGet as of 3.5.1 — a full, dedicated connector: AS2 client and server, S/MIME sign + encrypt + compression, per-partner X.509 certificates, and synchronous, asynchronous and signed MDN. Crypto is MimeKit (Bouncy Castle) — the same foundation the AS2 world interoperates on.

It's interop-validated in both directions against a live OpenAS2 v4.9.0 (signed + encrypted, positive MDN, Received-Content-MIC verified) — not just self-tested.
