Adding a tag overwrites the following word

If I place the cursor immediately before a word and add a tag by typing <, then selecting one of the automatically completed options, the word is deleted when the tag is added.

It's not clear to me whether the extension is meaning to wrap the word in the tag, which would sometimes be helpful. I cannot find a specific function for this other than the built-in Emmet wrap feature, which does not support XML autocompletion. In TextMate, for instance, one can use ctrl + < to insert open/close tags around a selection which are mirrored as one edits the tag.

The autocompletion behavior tries to support commons usecases. User type start bracket and some tag name and applies the completion.

But I agree that with your usecase the behavior is strange.

We should cover your usecase.

Could you specify in détail the expected behavior.

I dont know if lsp provides the capability to know if user type on Ctrl, but feel free to explain the wishes behavior.

Many thanks for taking the time to reply! In the case of typing <, I would merely expect the open and close elements to be inserted at the cursor's position – i.e. exactly as things are now, but without deleting the following word. This is the behaviour, for example, of the Oxygen XML Editor.

Since the intention is evidently not to wrap the word, I've moved that to #794.

Could you try with prerelease please. I did some improvemenet with completion and tell me if your problem is solved.
