3+
## About the award
4+
5+
The *Innovation In Control* award celebrates an innovative control system or application of control components – electrical, mechanical or software – to provide unique machine functions. In order to win this award:
6+
7+
- A team must be able to describe their controls innovation and can trace its conception, design, manufacturing/assembly, or deployment.
8+
- The control system is innovative and unique.
9+
- The control system is integrated with the machine, human players, strategy, etc. in concept and execution.
10+
- The innovation is practical; it addresses the game’s challenge and is reliable under the stress of competition.
11+
12+
## How this applies to us
13+
14+
- Background: TODO (Michael?)
15+
- Unique: TODO
16+
- Integrated: Nearly every aspect of the robot can be tuned in a match as changes happen.
17+
- Practical: Damage to motors, unplanned malfunctions, etc. can all be worked around by the code as long as at least part of the mechanism remains working.
