Summary

Please add support for exposing license metadata for third-party dependencies as Handlebars variables in Renovate templates. This will help users surface license information during dependency upgrades and automate license compliance workflows.

Renovate currently lacks the ability to expose license metadata for the dependencies it manages. This creates a gap in visibility for third-party licenses, which is essential for maintaining compliance with open source usage policies, mitigating legal risks, and meeting security audit requirements.

If Renovate could expose license info in PRs, we could:

• Review license changes at a glance in upgrade PRs
• Surface policy violations directly in the PR
• Improve traceability and documentation
• Reduce the need for duplicate tooling
