How could I get altenative URL schemas rendered in href link (viber://, tg://) (in markdown)

I'm building local tech support wiki.

I want people to be able to click a link to open viber chat with me (at it is most popular messenger locally).

Unfortunately viber:// (and tg://) urls are not rendered even if I put it directly in <A HREF>.

Is it configurable anywhere? Could not find a clue.
