Hello. The system is not updating. My system version is 1.4.76. It doesn’t update to the latest version — nothing happens. How can I update it? How can I connect via SSH? Thank you.

I think v1.4.76 is the most recent non-beta release.

I should probably fix that. And give some thought as to what is and is not a Beta release. In the past, I have been reluctant to label Beta releases as full releases, because I worry about accidentally taking down people's gigging rigs. In reality, PiPedal release are done on a rolling/continuous update basis as features become available, so you are not honestly taking a significant risk by accepting Beta releases. That being said, out of the 99 releases so far, I will admit there have been a couple of releases that had to be rolled back or reissued. Downgrading Pipedal is a relatively painless process, although it does require command-line access.

Please check to see what your PiPedal update settings are. Go to the Hamburger menu, select Settings, select Check for Updates, and the look at the dropdown control in the top right-hand corner of the dialog. If you have selected "Release", then 1.4.76 probably is the most recent non-Beta release. If you select "Release or Beta", you will get the most recent PiPedal version. PiPedal remembers which setting you select. I not aware of any significant problems on the current v1.5.99 Beta release, so you can update to PiPedal v.5.99 pretty fearlessly.

Connecting to your raspberry Pi via SSH.... If you did not enable SSH when you first installed Raspberry Pi OS (or if your Pi came installed with Raspberry Pi OS), you will need to temporarily connect a keyboard, mouse and monitor in order to access a command shell.
