Description
Colemak:
Developed by Shai Coleman in 2006 to be a more efficient and comfortable layout than QWERTY, while retaining many QWERTY positions for easier learning.
Colemak-DH:
A modified version of Colemak that was introduced later by the community (not by Shai) to address ergonomic concerns, especially related to finger strain from certain key positions.
Colemak places the D and H keys on the middle row, but this results in frequent use of the center column (harder to reach and uncomfortable for many).
Colemak-DH moves D and H to more comfortable positions to reduce strain, especially for the right index finger which is overworked in the standard Colemak layout.
Colemak: More optimized than QWERTY, but can lead to overuse of certain fingers.
Colemak-DH: Further reduces lateral finger movement and awkward reaches, leading to better ergonomics, especially for touch typists.
