Nothing being captured/recorded

Hello,

I have 4 cameras setup in Viseron. Live view is working.

Motion detection and object detection is configured to record events.
Yet, the only time an event is recorded is when Viseron is first started, and by 1 camera only. Its a 1 second motion capture, although there is no motion found in the camera view.
Any subsequent motion (cars driving past, people walking by) does not get captured or recorded.

You probably need to tweak the sensitivity of the motion detector.

If you temporarily run with scan_on_motion_only: false for te object detector you should see recordings when walking in front of the cameras.

If you enable debug logging for mog2 you can get a hint of how much motion is detected and you can tweak area accordingly

I lowered the confidence to 0.7 for both car and person and this seems to trigger object recording. However, I still feel that motion recording is not being triggered correctly.
Will debug create a ton of log entries? Where are they saved in unRaid docker? Live log viewer scrolls too quickly and buffer is limited.

As @john- mentioned you need to set trigger_event_recording for the motion detector as well.

The original config you posted did not have trigger_event_recording in the mog2 section previously. It should be set to true. You have tested since adding this value?

Also, if you are providing sections of config or code use the <> option in the edit bar. It makes it easier to read.

Ah yes, you are correct, I added event recording trigger for mog2 shortly after the initial post. The motion sensor still doesn't record anything except for 1 second at startup. All recordings are from object detection only.
I'll let this go for now since object detection is adequate at the moment.

Since lowering the object detection confidence for car, the front driveway camera is recording every 2-4 minutes the same static image of my car in the driveway. Car is not moving, no motion or objects are detected. The events view thumbs show my car at various percentages (73%, 71%, 76% etc) for the different recorded events. Motion trigger would be great in this instance, so I'll modify this camera's detector to trigger on motion only and see how it goes.
EDIT: Saw a car drive by in live view but motion detection did not trigger a recording or object detection. I'll look into enabling debugging.
So right now, the front cam events are filling up with static videos of the driveway with stationary car.

Feels like I'm almost there with that I need from this NVR! (mask drawing is coming soon so that's great)

A car driving by sounds like it would take less of the image than one in the driveway (assuming camera is at your house). So yes, enable motion debugging and see what level is needed to trigger that as motion.

If a car is not moving, how would motion trigger help you?

It may be you have another problem besides detecting motion but I am not clear what that is.

Maybe you don't want motion detection and have a problem with the repeated object detection?

A working motion detection would trigger recording only when there is movement in that camera's view, whereas right now it records every 1-2 minutes because the object detector keeps triggering even though the object hasn't moved or changed.

Problem is that the object detector is triggering continuously even though the object (car) is stationary. Was hoping that motion detection would help fix it but motion detection is not working properly either.

I've noticed that parked cars seem to constantly trigger object detection every 1-2 minutes (a different camera shows a parked car). These end up clogging up the Events viewer. Most of these detections aren't recorded (ie they are not in the Recordings list), so that's good.

Right, then you can use require_motion: true which wont start a recording based on a detected object unless there is motion.

I do think you need to study the different options tho in order to fully understand the picture. You can search the docs page for the different config keys mentioned in this thread to get an idea of how they work together.

Will write a dedicated doc section on stationary objects as well.
