LaserScan does not display anything in rviz when the sensor has a single ray

This bug was reported in rviz originally: ros-visualization/rviz#1541.
I suspect that the function transformLaserScanToPointCloud() doesn't correctly handle the single ray scan?

This issue still persists. A single laser scan point is not viewable in rviz. Has there been any update?

I was using ROS 2 Jazzy I believe when I encountered it.
