Albert van Dijk from the Australian National University. Together with colleagues he has developed the Global Water Monitor (GWM). See: https://wenfo.org/globalwater/ and https://wenfo.org/globalwater/how-its-measured/

Currently lake level is not widely simulated in land models, so this is one for the future.

• Lake and reservoir storage data are estimated by combining satellite measurements of water level and water body extent by different satellites, along with information on local topography where necessary (Hou et al., 2022). The data record extends from 1984 onwards.
