This error comes from wgpu and does not tell us much about the issue, just that something went wrong with getting a texture.

You can try:

• Using the Flatpak version.
• Using a different backend through -g gl.

Using -g gl works for me, but forcing users to launch with specific command line flags is not a good idea. I think there should be some fallback system, for example, wgpu->gl->software if the previous option failed.

There is a fallback system, but you cannot predict that everything will be working correctly.

If, for instance, Vulkan drivers are broken or something's not right with the system, Vulkan will not work currently, that's why you have an option to use gl. You can set that permanently in settings.

Check if Vulkan works in Flatpak, as you have a custom OS, it might be the case that the OS somehow correlates with this error.
