Subscription cancellation without clear reason

Ticket 15633. Some of the last transactions:

• There was an issue with automatic payments and several renewal charges did not go through.
• Then the subscription got automatically cancelled, which makes sense
• There was a manual top-up on July 1 and I find it strange that after this credit the balance became negative $2.50.
• 5 seconds later the subscription was resumed.
• On July 13 the subscription was renewed
• 180 milliseconds after renewal it was cancelled. I do not see any evidence that an attempt to charge the credit card was done in Stripe.

The first cancellation was due to the credit card not working. It was not clear to the user and we should communicate it better. But the second cancellation is unclear at all.

It seems there is some confusion between "current balance" and "current balance including pending charges" behind the scene. When I tried to resume the subscription, there was $0.14 on the account and $4.20 in pending charges. The dialog said that resuming the subscription would cost $3.95, so I need to add at least $3.81, i.e. it did not take into account the pending charge. It also correctly pointed out that the minimum charge is $5, so I have to add $5.

I have added $5, now I get

which means that the subscription could not properly resume with adding just $5. I am not sure if it is related to the problem with automatic renewal as well.

Next renewal update: the subscription is "renewed" in CoCalc with a pending charge. There is no charge visible in Stripe. Current balance and pending charge since presumably the problem is in their combination (and interplay with minimum transaction amount?):

Still no movement, I tried to add money manually, but it ended up with

and fiddling around in different places it turns out that one is $4.204 and another $4.2048...
