Allow promoting messages in a chat to a separate thread

It is somewhat natural to want to create a new topic from a discussion in another topic, especially some "generic ones".

The simplest idea I have in mind is something I can click for a given message (any? or maybe just the very last one in the current thread?) that would remove it from the current thread and make it the first in a new chat. Bonus: it is not deleted, but a link to the moved message is inserted in the old place.

If we do it not with the last message, but one in the middle, the question is what to do with the rest: keep in place, move as well, or something in between. An easy solution is to support only last messages...

I think what you describe are "threads" in other chats apps. e.g. google's chat appends a link that there are more messages about a message in a thread, where it displays the thread separately. That's IMHO really good, because the original message is there, no break in the flow of information. Also, Slack and Mattermost open threads on the side, with a similar link below the message, where replies started.

But we already have threads...

Our model is closest to zulip's (if not directly, it's based on things inspired by zulip indirectly).
