Describe the bug

Apr 01 18:13:22 archlinux gnome-shell[1468]: Attempting to call back into JSAPI during the sweeping phase of GC. This is most likely caused by not destroying a Clutter actor or Gtk+ widget with ::destroy signals connected, but can also be caused by using the destroy(), dispose(), or remove() vfuncs. Because it would crash the application, it has been blocked and the JS callback not invoked.

But no info provided which player is used.
Maybe try another player / or browser...

Those are just warning - not harmfull.
In the other logs there where 3 exceptions which are chrome related.

I see. Chrome has various issues on Linux as it is. Linux isn't Google's priority. Same deal with Chromium though. Can you implement a workaround of sorts?

Not sure tbh - I get such warnings from other extensions, too - like dashtodock.
Not really worth spending time on IMHO. You can contribute If this is important to you...
But @sakithb is currently rewriting a lot of stuff - at this time I would just leave it as it is

Continuing with my discoveries, the control buttons do appear squished up together.
I have a 27" 2K monitor at 125% scaling. Same at 1080P.

Rebooting fixed it. Looks like it happens when I switch between different monitors with different resolutions.

The errors Error: TypeError: this._playerProxy is null are caused by this line.

Calling player._close() removes certain attributes from the player (including this._playerProxy), but the player is still referenced by the MPRIS notification. When this loop runs, any active MPRIS notifications become unusable, and interacting with them triggers this error.

Note: The "Hide the media notification" feature doesn't work if the extension is enabled after an MPRIS player already exists. I suspect this is because the feature wasn’t fully ported to GNOME 48—MPRIS notifications changed significantly between 47 and 48.
