API V8 file upload to custom file module fails

Issue

I created a custom module with the base template type "file"
It works as expected in the frontend, but now I need to add files to it over the API

Is there anyway to do so over API v8?

Expected Behavior

It should be possible to GET, POST or PATCH the file content of a file record over the API v8

Actual Behavior

There is not possibility to GET, POST or PATCH the file content of a file record over the API v8

Context

Mass import documents / files to custom file module is not possible.
