AI slows down when approaching puck

What steps will reproduce the problem?
Seeking algorithm for AI paddle and puck is simply set to move the paddle to 
the mid point between 
paddle and puck so paddle slows down as it gets closer

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Paddle should speed up as it approaches
