[Code Bug]: visualizations are unexpectedly shown in jupyter notebooks

What happened?

We should expect that visualizations will only get drawn in a notebook when the last value in the notebook is an image, but they are getting drawn all the time.

Note that this has only been observed on Windows. On Mac the visualizations are drawn in a separate window from the notebook.
