Description
What problem is solved by the new feature
Inspired by @in-fun/snapdrop, there is demand for a robust, easy-to-use local network file sharing application that prioritizes privacy and speed without external servers or complex configuration. The new feature aims to create an app called "Shear Point" by UKH, offering modern UI/UX, strong cross-device compatibility, and seamless performance even in challenging environments.
Describe the feature
Shear Point should:
- Enable users to quickly share files between devices on the same local network, including mobile, desktop, and tablets
- Remove the need for internet servers: fully LAN/peer-to-peer
- Offer real-time device discovery and easy pairing (like Snapdrop/PairDrop)
- Support multiple simultaneous transfers and large file sizes
- Have a modern, visually appealing interface
- Provide clear transfer status, notifications, and error handling
- Include optional password-protected sharing and temporary access tokens
- Be cross-platform (browser-based PWA, plus native apps desirable)
- Integrate user-friendly configuration for file save locations
- Open source with clear documentation

- Aim for a unique visual identity that distinguishes Shear Point from predecessors
- Consider accessibility and low-resource device support
- Priority: Development and public preview
