slow and choppy audio when running arduino as component

I have compiled and updloaded this project:https://github.com/schreibfaul1/ESP32_Arduino_ESPIDF.git
Radio listening is very slow and choppy then stops.
What should I tweak to get back to the nice arduino sound ?
