GSOC preparation: advice on impactful contributions

Hi,

I’ve recently started contributing to Awkward and currently have a small
documentation-focused PR under review. I’m preparing for GSOC and wanted to
ask for general guidance on which areas or types of contributions are most
helpful for early contributors.

Any advice on how to prioritize work or where help is most needed would be
greatly appreciated.

Hi @X0708a,

Thank you for your interest in our project! A documentation PR is a good way to learn about the project. If you want to get more technical experience there are a few "good first issues" in our project. I could suggest which other issues are suitable if I knew more about your experience and interests. BTW we have regular round-table project meetings on Thursdays at 17:00 Zurich time (we have one in about 7 hous today, for example). You are more than welcome to join. Hi, I’m Aashirvad. I’m a 3rd-year B.Tech IT student and have recently started contributing to Awkward, beginning with documentation and some GPU-related fixes. My background is mainly in Python, ML, and numerical computing, and I’m interested in getting deeper into Awkward internals and more technical contributions.
