Block bot traffic via anubis

Is it possible (aligned with community guidelines) to use some open-source self-hosted solution (like https://github.com/TecharoHQ/anubis) to block bot traffic?

Recently, large amount of bot traffic (mostly from Russia) made my instance (search.ononoki.org) quite slow, and searxng built-in limiter does not seem work well since these bots use many different ip addresses. I was wondering if there's better solution.

In short:

• Using a self-hosted bot blocker is acceptable if it's necessary to keep the instance functional.
• It can impact users without JavaScript if necessary.
• If deployed, it should be limited to the /search endpoint and whitelist the check.searx.space monitoring bot.

Ultimately, it comes down to the instance owner's discretion.
