Save app log only saves logcat command not output

It only saves

logcat -d --uid=1000,1010034 *:V

in seedvault-15-5.6-1755465390380.txt
In the app settings of GrapheneOS I can save an App log.

When tapping the 'save app log' option, do you get an OS popup asking you for permission? did you give permission there?

I did not get a popup asking me for permission. The logs you saw are from the OS (GrapheneOS App Settings) As just tried to save the app log as I got the error notification for #944 and could not save it. A second later, it switched from my usual directory, synchronised via syncthing, to downloads and the file could be saved, but the content was the same as above. After that I could save the same file in the usual place.

It does sound like the Storage Access Framework on your device is in some sort of broken state. That is what is used to save the file. Could you try exporting the log using Seedvault itself again and see if the empty file is reproducible for you? Even after a device reboot?

Yes, even after a reboot on my non owner Profile. After a reboot I tried it on the owner profile and there it worked.
I was asked by Seedvault to allow seedvault to access all device logs, which I didnt approve. While searching for that on github, the screen timed out and my device locked itself, after that the prompt didnt reappeard.
I will try it tomorrow on a different non owner Profile.

LoL, not approving is probably not helpful in making it work.

Otherwise, I never tested this in other profiles, maybe the issue is related to that then.

It said that Seedvault could access its own logs regardless. In a different Profile I also get just the same 34B large file.

Yes, it is expected that you allow this prompt, because we are using a system API, often a problem is only apparent in system logs.
