Checkbox Expand Container

The problem involves an E01 image, which contains a .zip file.

But I don't want it to be processed.

Therefore, I didn't check the box to expand containers.

But as can be seen in the image, IPED is stuck in a single thread, processing only this file for hours.

Could this be a bug?

I'm not familiar with that configuration app; I configure my settings directly in .txt files.
I imagine that app does the same, so I suggest you check the txt file to see if it actually selected that option correctly.

It's by design. Containers are not expanded, but still processed and indexed. Go to ParserConfig.xml and comment out PackageParser if you want to disable zip processing completely.
