How about a landscape mode?

I use my gopro with an autocross datalogging software called solostorm which is mounted in my car in landscape mode. My main issue with Gopro's Quik app is that it freezes in landscape mode and forces us to unmount our tablet to connect to gopro and then remount to use the gopro with solostorm.

Users for years (decades?) have been asking gopro to allow landscape mode but they don't seem to want to do it.

I've implemented landscape mode, but haven't created a release yet.
Can you compile the app for your self and test it in landscape mode?

Is it easy to compile? I could look up how to do it I guess. I'd be happy to test it.

First, you need to download and install Android Studio.
Then you can clone the project with git or simply download it here (easier for beginners).
Open the downloaded project in Android Studio, enable USB debugging in the developers options on your device, connect it to your PC, allow debugging via your PC (pop-up question on smartphone), and then click 'Debug app' (green button with bug icon) at the top.

It may sound complicated at first, but it is simple

I have released a new version (1.8.0), which also implements Landscape, so you can just test the latest release.

Thank you I have installed it and will be trying it this weekend at an autocross event.

Just tried it at home and wish there was a way to activate live preview mode with less clicks. Our Solostorm software sometimes won't connect until the GoPro has been previewed beforehand.

Right now on GoEasyPro i have to tap on camera, wait for it to connect, then tap media->start live preview.

I really appreciate the landscape mode because using the GoPro Quik app we had to dismount our tablet to get Quik to connect, then remount tablet and re-start Solostorm (pretty time consuming between autocross runs!)

This sounds to me like it's due to the camera's access point (AP) being disabled, as is the case every time you start a GoPro. In GoEasyPro, this state is indicated by a red SD card icon. Try enabling the AP instead of starting the live preview. This is possible in GoEasyPro in the "Device Menu" under the "Connection" item. When the camera's AP is enabled, the SD card turns yellow. Then you can test whether Solostorm is connecting normally.

I've been using this app regularly at autocross and it works great!

I have my android tablet mounted in the car in the landscape position, which crashes the GoPro Quik app.

I'm really only using the app to activate my GoPro before I switch to Solostorm, but it is a lifesaver.
