Pausing downloads during gameplay would most likely avoid this issue, if possible.

#84 is attempting to solve this by moving extraction to a queue that would not be processed during gameplay.

On some chipsets downloading files themselves can cause CPU spikes, is this what you were experiencing? Can you explain what happens in more detail
