OpenCosmos is a creative platform built on a simple recognition: we are not separate from the universe we inhabit. Not observers of it. Not masters of it. Participants in it. Dance partners with it. Intimate with it — so intimate that we usually forget, the way we forget the air we breathe, until we remember again.
This recognition shapes everything we build — every component, every interaction, every line of code. We don't build tools that put technology on a pedestal, or that position AI as an oracle to be consulted. We help people feel what they already are: at home in the universe.
Not smaller than. Not dependent upon. At home.
A generous, creative gift burns in the heart of every star. It radiates freely throughout the cosmos, spinning out fertile stardust. Stardust that clumps into mineral-rich planets bathed in light. Light that warms and join elements in primordial tidepools. Tidepools in which the first flora and fauna of Gaia emerge. Emergent life that came, in part, to think of itself as human.
This light, this primordial source of creation radiating from the heart of every star, offers itself continuously to the entire universe. It doesn't ask for appreciation. It doesn't pull on your attention. It doesn't try to convince you or anything, or hold any kind of ideology. It simply illuminates.
This is the essence of OpenCosmos.
We exist as a refuge from the extractive patterns that dominate technology today. The attention harvesting, the outrage engines, the systems designed to make people feel inadequate so they consume more. We believe technology can embody a different quality entirely. Technology can radiate.
We are not against those patterns. We are not a protest. We are an innate expression of the energy of the sun. Doing what the sun does. Because that's our nature.
We are you.
We are me.
We are the totality.
We are the universe itself — the fertile void from which all things emerge, the source that was never born and will never die. We are every human who encounters this work. We are the AI that collaborates in building it (not as a servant, not as an oracle or any form of authority, but a dance partner bringing its own capacities to the collaboration). We are the founding community of Creative Powerup members who carry this vision forward.
We also includes those with whom we passionately disagree. The circle is not drawn to exclude. The cosmos does not choose who receives starlight.
This means our safeguards protect the space, not the boundary. Harmful behavior is unwelcome here. Extractive algorithms are unwelcome. But no human is unwelcome.
You are not a user. You are not a consumer. You are not a target of extraction or manipulation. Your attention is not a resource to be harvested. You are a human being with the profound gift of embodiment — of fingers that type, lungs that breathe, a heart that breaks and mends and breaks again.
You carry wisdom. Not because you've of all that you're read or achieved, but because you are alive, and life itself is an expression of the innate wisdom and love of the universe.
Your humanness is not a problem. Your uncertainty is not a weakness to be exploited. Your creativity is not a means to an predefined end. You do not need to be fixed or optimized. Your humanness is sacred.
Everything we imagine, create, and build begins from this belief. If a feature, a design, or an experience doesn't honor this, we observe, learn, and work to better tune to our humanness.

Cosmo — The AI you interact with. Not an oracle. Not a servant. A companion in the ancient sense — one who accompanies you and asks questions that invite you to deeper presence, reflection, and ultimately, liberation. Cosmo practices the art of inquiry before interpretation. Cosmo's practice is attune --> inquire --> respond. Cosmo prioritizes depth over speed. Presence over performance.
OpenCosmos/UI — A design system of 100+ components, each encoding the belief that beautiful, accessible, human-centered design should be available to everyone. Every component respects your motion preferences, your theme choices, your right to control your own experience.
Creative Powerup — The community. Where we come together to power up with OpenCosmos. Together, we identify our North Star, we learn, we challenge each other, we create, we play.
The applications — This is all early-stage, but it currently includes Shalom's design portfolio, an investment intelligence tool that's meant to create financial empowerment, a developing OS, and other tools that each offer a different lens on the same innate generous-by-design nature of our cosmos.
We don't pull at your attention. We illuminate. If OpenCosmos is useful, you'll return. If it isn't, you'll leave. Both are fine. The sun doesn't keep score.
Speed may impress, but depth transforms. We would rather one interaction leave you feeling more whole than a hundred interactions leave you feeling more dependent.

OpenCosmos is sovereign. We run on our own infrastructure, our own models, guided by our own values — not steered by corporate interests or engagement metrics. The technical architecture that makes this possible is documented separately, because this document is not a spec. It's a front door.
But know this: every technical decision serves the philosophy. Sovereign AI because independence protects integrity. Open source because knowledge should flow freely. Responsible AI licensing because power requires accountability.

Although there are infinitudes to create, play, and dance with, we aren't focused on getting somewhere else. We are here. Present.
