Analysis of financial support for popular projects on Github

Proposed methodology:

• Determine the X (30? 50?) most popular projects. Potential metrics: # of forks, # of contributors, # of issues.
• For each, determine what kind of organization "maintains" the project. Potential options: individual, unofficial community, non-profit, academic, for-profit.
• Optionally, message top 5 or top 10 contributors to each project and survey if they are getting paid to work on the project.
